Hairstyles for Short Hair

Maybe you've always wanted to try a short haircut but aren't sure if it would work for you. Actually, there are various kinds of short hairstyles that can look great on everyone, regardless of facial structure.

Bob

You can try a chin length bob if you want a style that's short, but not too short. This style works great for all facial shapes and is quite versatile. With a bob, you can easily pin your hair up for a sophisticated style, or leave it down for a casual look. Try clipping your bangs back with a cute comb or sweep them to the side for old Hollywood glamour.

Pixie Cut

Short HairstyleAnother popular short cut is the pixie cut. Celebrities who've sported this style at one point or another include Mia Farrow, Gwyneth Paltrow, Halle Berry and Sharon Stone. This very short style is perfect for women with delicate bone structure, and couldn't be easier to care for! This is wash and go at it's very best -- simply wash, condition, run your fingers through your hair and you're ready to go! One great feature of this style is how great it looks messy! For extra control, try using a small amount of pomade or hairstyling wax to add a piecy look to ends.

Bangs

If the pixie is too short for you, go a little longer. A longer yet still short haircut is still easy to care for and style, yet offers a bit more versatility. Try long bangs that you can set on rollers for a voluminous style, or apply a bit of gel and sweep bangs to the side, secured with a pretty clip or pin. For a quick yet polished look, blowdry your hair with a large round brush then run your fingers through your freshly dried hair to let it fall naturally.

Hair Color

One great way to add interest to any short hairstyle is with highlights. Regardless of your natural color, you can find highlights that work for you. Brunettes can try streaks in shades of toffee and caramel, while blondes can play with platinum, butterscotch, and wheat tones. For redheads, try pale strawberry or auburn tones. The right highlights can accent a great short cut and enhance your whole look.

Although going short can be great for many women, make sure to discuss what you want with your stylist. Clear communication and the right professional can make all the difference when it comes to getting the perfect short haircut for you!
