Clay Pot
Crafts Clay Pot Butterfly And Flowers
This little bit of sunshine can be used for a place card
holder or a decoration. It combines a clay pot, fake
flowers, wooden butterfly, wire, paint, and glue to help
inspire a spring mood. Kids will enjoy trying this craft
too, just make sure they have adult supervision with the
hot glue gun.
Materials:
Clay pot - 1 and ½ inch tall
Fake flowers - 1 inch big, cut to 4-7 inches tall. 3 sets
of light blue, 2 sets of light yellow.
Wood butterfly - 4 inches tall and 2-3 inches wide
Green wire - 6 inches tall and about 1/8 inch wide
Paint - Forest green, white, black, lavender, light blue,
and fuchsia
Paintbrush
Hot glue gun and glue
Instructions:
1. Paint the small clay pot forest green as shown in the
“Step 1” picture and let dry.
2. Paint butterfly as shown in the “Step 2” picture and
let dry. I painted the body light blue with very light
lavender dots. Then I made the wings lavender. I added
tiny black, white, and fuchsia dots to the wings.
3. Stick some salt, sand, or scrap Styrofoam into the
bottom of the clay pot. Cut your flowers to the height
desired and stick them into the foam, as shown in the
“Step 3“ pictures. Glue flower bottoms into place and let
dry.
4. Heat up your glue gun and secure the thin green wire to
the back of the butterfly and let dry, as shown in the
“Step 4” picture.
5. Stick the wire into the pot and secure, as shown in
the main picture above. You may or may not want to glue the
wire in place, depending on what you’re using the
decoration for. Let dry if glued.
6. Slip a place card between the butterfly’s first antenna
and opposite wing, as shown in the pictures, if you want
to make it a place card holder. You can also place it on a
shelf, give it as a gift, or use it as a decoration on a
platter of appetizers.

Notes:
The wooden butterfly should be easy to find at almost any
craft store. If it’s not ready made, just get two wings, a
bead for the head, a bead for the body, and two snippets
of black wire for the antennas.
The craft can be used just to help cheer up a room, or
as a fun birthday party place card holder. It’s simple
enough to create a large quantity, and if you have enough
time you can even paint each butterflies wings a little
differently.
