Planning Your Mexican Themed Party
Are you seeking a party theme that's tons of fun and
features great music and food? Then how about a Mexican
theme for your next get-together? Here are some tips to
help you plan and host the best Mexican themed party
ever:
Invitations
It's prudent to send out the invitations at least a month
before party date. Always request that guests RSVP so
you'll know how many people are coming. This makes it
easier when planning the food and activities. Go festive
and use invitations in the shape of colorful sombreros!
And make sure to specify the Mexican theme so guests can
dress appropriately or bring a theme related item or gift.
Food
Mexican, of course! A taco bar is always a fantastic
idea. For the best taco bar, have hard and soft taco
shells, burrito wrappers, and tortilla chips. Feature
bowls of spiced hamburger meat, sliced chicken and steak,
lettuce, tomato, cheese, sour cream, guacamole, salsa --
anything you can imagine that guests might want to load
their shells and chips with. The perfect mixed drink to
accompany the meal is the margarita, of course! Offer
alcoholic and non-alcoholic versions of this tangy drink.
For dessert, try Mexican "fried" ice cream and bunuelos,
a traditional Mexican treat.
Decorations
Deck your home out in red, green and white streamers. How
about adding some festive flair with a string or two of
chili pepper lights? Get bunches of balloons in
coordinating colors, and try a bright and festive
tablecloth with a Mexican theme.
Music
You can find a CD that features popular Mexican music and
play that as your background music. Or, why not get a
recording of a traditional Mexican mariachi band? If you
have satellite radio, simply tune to a Mexican or Spanish
station for a variety of great Latino music for your
party!
Games
Why not bring out your inner child with a piñata? You can
buy a piñata already assembled, or if you're crafty, make
your own! Present each guest with their own colorful
sombrero and lead everyone in the Mexican Hat Dance.
There are lots of fun activities you can do at a Mexican
themed party. Hand out maracas and let your guests create
their own Mexican rhythm! Or, just let everyone dance,
eat, drink, and be merry! Your guests will never forget
your Mexican fiesta, and you'll want to host them again
and again!
