Cheese Pretzels

Ingredients:

4 oz (100 gm) margarine
4 oz (100 gm) plain flour
4 oz (100 gm) wholewheat flour
2 tsp. mustard powder
6 oz (150 gm) Cheddar cheese, grated
4 tbsp. milk
1 egg, beaten
3 tbsp. sesame seeds

Method:

1. Mix margarine into flours till the mixture resembles fine crumbs. Stir in mustard and cheese.

2. Add milk and half egg. Mix to form a dough.

3. Lightly knead on a floured surface. Shape walnut sized pieces of the dough into thin 7 inch ropes.

4. Place the ropes on working surface and loop their ends to form a pretzel shape.

5. Place on greased baking sheets and brush with remaining egg. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and bake at 425 degrees (F) or 220 degrees (C) for 10-15 min. till golden. Cool on a wire rack.

Makes: 45 pretzels
