Cleaning with Household Products
Many household products make great cleaners. Below you will find a
list of the most common household items used as cleaners followed
by recipes to create different types of cleaners.
• Acetone
• Baking Soda
• Vinegar
• Bleach
• Ammonia
• Rubbing Alcohol
• Laundry Detergent
• Dish Soap
• Mineral Oil
• Cream of Tartar
• Corn Starch
• Talcum Powder
• Salt
Cleaner for Painted Walls and Woodwork
¼ cup ammonia mixed with 1 Gallon warm water. Start at the bottom
of the wall and work your way up. Have another bucket with plain
water and wipe down the area with a wet cloth after
wiping with the solution. Change the plain water often.
Window Cleaner
Mix ¼ cup vinegar with 2 quarts warm water. Use newspaper to wipe
the window because it does not cause streaks.
Carpet Refresher
Combine 2 tablespoons corn start, ¼ cup perfumed talcum powder and
¾ cups baking soda. Sprinkle of carpet and let stand at least 15
minutes. Vacuum the powder up.
To remove Foods Burned on Pots and Pans
Boil a solution of 2 tablespoons baking soda for every quart of
water. Let stand overnight then clean pan as usual.
Disinfectant
Mix ¾ cup bleach with 1 gallon of water.
Remove Rust and Hard Water
Put vinegar or lemon juice on affected area and let it sit until
the stain disappears, rinse and repeat if needed.
Soap Scum Remover
Apply a baking soda paste and wipe with a wet sponge then rinse.
