Here Are Your Fashion Trends for Winter 2022

Spread the love

Cold weather is upon us, but that’s no excuse not to look chic! This winter’s fashions include some chilly choices like miniskirts and cut-outs, but there’s plenty of room for cozy knits, catsuits, puffer jackets and cozy accessories. Let’s take a look at what’s coming down the runway for winter 2022.

Geometric Patterns

Geometric patterns are huge this year, with some prints looking as cute and colorful as your Trapper Keeper was back in the 90s. Bright, colorful patterned coats and jackets featuring triangles, squares, zigzags, and other geometric shapes are in this year, but you needn’t make every piece a statement piece. You can also choose geometric patterned coats and jackets in neutral colors like black and white, gray and black, or shades of beige and brown.

Knits

When are knits ever not in for winter? This year, cozy up to a color block crop top set with matching cardi, skirt, and top; grab a sleeveless cable knit sweater; or stay warm in a maxi-length knit dress. Go for knit sets in bright coordinating colors, or grab a matching cardi and crop-top set to go with your miniskirts. For more casual days, pair cute knit shirts with jeans, leggings, or a maxi skirt.

Miniskirts

It might be chilly out, but beauty requires sacrifice, and this year miniskirts are it. Choose one in a cozy knit fabric or grab a terry cloth miniskirt. You can even pair your summer-y, ruffled, floral miniskirts with a shacket or cardi set. And plaid is in this year, so grab a plaid miniskirt.

Cut-Outs

Cut-outs aren’t just for summer anymore, as designers look for ways to extend this past summer’s cut-out trend. Cut-out pieces for winter include long-sleeved tops with cut-outs around the shoulders, collar bones, and bosoms. Long skirts, dresses, and trousers are sporting cut-outs around the waist and hips.

Quilted Jackets

Quilted jackets, snow pants, and vests can keep you cozy and warm on city streets or on the ski mountain. Quilted pieces are also light enough to layer up, and they can help you put off the day when you need to break out your puffer jacket.

Leggings

You might need a pair of leggings under your miniskirt, and that’s just as well because there are so many styles to choose from for winter 2022. Grab an 80s-style pair of stirrup leggings, or take advantage of the high-shine trend with a pair of faux leather high shine leggings. Flared leggings, ankle zip leggings, and button-hem leggings can help you avoid dreaded bunching around the ankle.

Denim

Few things will keep your legs warm in the winter like a pair of jeans, but denim is coming back in style for other parts of your outfit, too. Grab a tea-length denim dress or put on your Canadian tuxedo. Jackets and shackets in denim and chambray are on point this year. To stay on trend, choose pieces made with contrasting colors of denim or even trimmed with a different style of fabric, like plaid flannel.

Plaid

Plaid skirts are in this year, and they don’t have to be miniskirts. Wear a long, ruffled plaid skirt with a fitted blazer and turtleneck, or pair it with a cable knit sweater or cardigan.

Bright Colors

Bright , playful colors don’t have to just be for spring and summer – use your outfit to bring some vibrancy to a cold, gray season. Bright yellows, teals, greens, purples, and oranges are here for winter 2022, so you can be the change you wish to see in the world.

Puffer Coats

Puffer jackets can keep you just as warm on the slopes as they can on the streets, and they’re available in a wide range of colors and styles. The fun, wavy moiré pattern is appearing on puffer jackets and vests this year, if you want something a little more exciting than your standard solid-color parka.

Onesies

Also known as catsuits, onesies are making a big comeback this year as they can be very versatile and many are certainly eye-catching. Wear a casual, athletic catsuit with sneakers and a long shacket or trench coat. Grab one in a fun pattern to wear with boots and a puffer vest or cropped cardigan.

Faux Fur

Fur is back in fashion – but only the fake kind, because no animals need be harmed for it. Grab a big, fluffy, cozy fake fur trench coat, or a pea coat trimmed in contrasting faux fur. You can even grab cozy accessories, like fake fur mittens or a faux fur handbag, to complete your look.

Now that winter is here, it’s time to get cozy with some snuggly cold-weather fashions. Look chic and stay comfortable this winter with knits, faux fur, and more.
