Braided Handle Easter Basket, Easter Crafts
What you will need:
- 1 round plastic basket about 8 7-8″ in diameter
- 3/4 yds. of two fabrics in contrast
- foam strips
- satin ribbons
- 1 bunny face (store-bought from any sewing notions department)
Directions:
Draw a circle on the material enough to cover up the basket to the top. You can do this by first cutting out a circle on a newspaper so that the measurement goes right. Cut this size on both the fabrics. Placing the right sides together, sew along the sides leaving 3″ for turning the fabric.
After sewing the round, turn the fabric out and press along the circle. Sew a seam round to close the open patch. sew another seam about 1: away from the outer seam. This forms the circle to pass your satin ribbons through.
Cut the foam into 1″ piece strips and cut the fabric into 3″piece strips – 15″ long. Place the foam in the centre of the fabric strips and fold in the fabric and sew. Place the three strips together and braid them. Sew both the ends to the sides of the round to make the handle.
Place the basket in the centre and draw the satin ribbons to form the cover for the basket.
A pretty basket to put the Easter eggs in!
