Beauty Tips for Long Haul Travel

Spread the love

Looking your best can be a little tricky while on a long journey, especially if you are tackling multi stop flights. While it may not be possible to keep your full beauty kit to hand every step of the way, these handy tip can help to make sure that you look fabulous at all times.

Beauty Tips for Long Haul Travel

Exfoliate your skin

Before you set out on a long flight make sure that you exfoliate you skin at home. Exfoliating will remove dead skin cells that can stop moisturiser from soaking into it effectively. The morning of your flight you should use a gentle exfoliating scrub that is enhanced with small granules instead of your daily facial cleanser. You will then be ready to thoroughly moisturise your skin.

Allow your blood to circulate freely

Good blood circulation can prevent the skin under your eyes from bloating and give your skin a rosy glow. Instead of slouching back in your seat during a look flight sit up straight, and walk around the cabin of the aeroplane as much as possible to allow your blood plenty of opportunities to circulate in all parts of your body.

Give your hair extra volume

Hair tends to become flattened on a long flight, so prepare for this in advance by adding extra volume when blow drying it before your flight. Spraying a little volumiser on your roots when blow drying can work wonders, while working some dry shampoo into your roots after your hair is dry can also add extra body. While on your flight, help to prevent your hair from becoming flat by using an inflatable neck travel pillow and pulling your hair into a low ponytail if it is particularly long.

Drink plenty of fluids

It is easy to become dehydrated on a long flight, which can make your hair and skin look dry and lifeless. While it may be tempting to reach for the complimentary alcohol while flying, this will only dehydrate you more and possibly leave you with a hangover when you land into the bargain. To achieve maximum hydration add some electrolytes to your water or sip a few glasses of tasty and refreshing coconut water.

Choose the right snacks

Snacking on nuts such as walnuts that are packed with Omega-3 acids can make your skin glow and prevent you from binging on junk food. Other snacks that can help to make you feel full while working wonders for your skin include beef jerky and nitrate-free salmon.

Touching up your makeup

You will naturally need to touch-up your makeup at some point during your journey. One of the quickest and easiest ways to keep your makeup looking fresh is to brush a little powder under your eyes and along your cheek bones. Lining the inner rim of your eyes with a lightly coloured eyeliner pencil can help to brighten them, and make you look fresh and wide awake, while adding a fresh coat of mascara to your top lashes can help to widen your eyes. If you notice that your eyes become puffy during your flight, holding an ice cube under your eye for a minute can rapidly reduce the swelling and leave you looking fantastic once again.

The key to looking fabulous on a long flight or a series of long flights is preparation. Make sure you treat yourself to a facial before your flight and stay moisturised to give your skin a healthy glow. Of course, getting plenty of rest can also help, so take the opportunity to grab a quick nap whenever you get the chance.
