Things to do with Kids in BangkokBangkok has a lot packed in it for kids and the children are sure to come back with lots of memories and a great deal of education (believe it or not). Here are some of the wonderful places to visit, if with children, in Bangkok:

1. Dreamworld

Bangkok’s own version of Disney World, the park, although nothing in comparison to the Disney parks, is something in its own right. A large area filled with lots of rides and quite a few devoted to toddlers and families with smaller children and complete with a snow-town, fantasy land and a Disney style ‘Colors of the Parade’ (weekends only) on the main street is a great attraction for children. You will have to set aside an entire day for the trip as their package includes pickup and drop with lunch included.

If you have to miss Dreamworld, you can take the kids to an even more fascinating and educational experience at the Ocean World. Ocean World is located in the basement of Siam Paragon Mall and has sharks, huge crabs, sting ray, penguins, starfishes (that you can touch), scorpions, jellyfish, sea horses and many, many other colorful fishes of all sizes and shapes on display complete with a glass tunnel under which you can walk through along with the fishes. You can see divers go in and feed all the fishes (including sharks and sting rays) with their hands. You can also take a glass bottom boat ride and watch a 4D movie.

Tickets are available for just visits and usually have promotional rates with boat ride and 4D movie included. Popcorn and soft drinks of choice are free with every ticket. If the fishes aren’t enough, there is also a play area for kids to jump in and parents to rest beside, in the middle of it all. There is also a little pond of koi fish if you wish to have the famous ‘Fish Pedicure’ done.

3. Safari World

If you are going to Pattaya, you can stop enroute to Safari World Animal Park, or make a special trip there. They have a Safari Park for a close encounter with the animals from a coach or car, a marine park and rainforest, a water cruise through crocs and gorillas and other attractions like feeding the animals, sealion shows, dolphin shows, bird shows, orang utan boxing shows etc.

4. Dusit Zoo

Bangkok has a fine zoo spread over a vast area and has animals from monkeys, hippopotamus, alligators, tigers, lions, penguins, camels, wallabies, kangaroos, giraffes, ostriches, zebras etc. and a nice little play area for the kids.

5. Crocodile Farm & Zoo

Visit the world’s largest crocodile farm with your kids and do not miss the crocodile wrestling if you can handle it. Also, take the kids to see the life-size dinosaur replica museum with the farm.

6. Bangkok Butterfly Garden & Insectarium

If you have dragged kids along to Chatuchak market, give them (and yourself) a break without spending any money. One of the free admission places in Bangkok – the Butterfly Garden is close by. Refresh your mind by the sight of lovely butterflies and wildflowers growing in landscaped gardens with benches, ponds and mazes.

7. Water Parks

Beat the heat of Bangkok. Take your kids to the nearest water park of the 3 that Bangkok boasts of:

Fantasia Lagoon: on the rooftop of the Mall Department Store

Leoland Water Park: Sixth Floor, Central City Bangna at Km.3 on Bangna-Trad Road

Siam Park: On the far eastern edge of town, 101 Sukhapibarn 2 Road

8. Doll Museum

A favorite with girls and women alike, this free admission museum has on display lovely antique and modern dolls and a store that sells them as well.

9. Free Parks

Choose from the reason of proximity amongst Lumpini Park, Chatuchak Park, Santiphap Park and Queen Sirikit Park for their tranquility and beautiful landscapes and ponds. You can row a boat in Chatuchak and admire the waterlilies in the ponds on Queen Sirikit. For no amount, you get rest and respite and can watch your kids play and have a great time.
