Getting Rid of Your Muffin Top For Christmas

Spread the love

Christmas is a time for indulging in all of life’s great joys. Due to this, Christmas is no time to be counting the calories; it is a time for piling on the pounds. With this in mind, if you were planning on losing weight for your New Year’s resolution, it is best to start early. Here’s how you can make sure that you’ve shifted your muffin top by the big day.

exercises for flat abs

Banish the Bloat

A bloated belly can make you appear heavier than you are. One way to beat the bloat is through crunches. Start by lying on your back with your knees bent at 90 degrees. Pull your belly button in towards your spine by breathing in slightly and then curl your head and trunk up while keeping your spine straight and in line with the rest of your body. Simply do three sets of 10 and, if you find this easy, up the scale to 20. When you can do 3 sets of 25 comfortably, your muffin top should start to vanish.

Targeting Excess Stomach Fat

An easy way to get rid of those ‘wobbly bits’ is by doing a downward dog to plank sequence. You start the exercise down on all fours with your wrists slightly in front of your shoulders; your knees should be around hip width apart and your toes should be curled under. From here, lift your knees away from the floor, pushing your hips towards the ceiling and straightening your legs. Hold this for 5-10 seconds and then move into the plank position with your core holding strong. Hold this for as long as possible (anywhere over 30 seconds is an achievement) and go back to the downward dog position. Repeat 5 times, resting if necessary.

Reversing Love Handles

A one legged plank is an essential exercise move for getting rid of love handles. Simply put yourself into the plank position, pull one of your knees to your chest and then, without touching the floor, push your leg back out and up so it is behind you at a 45 degree angle. Hold for 5 seconds, bring it back in and repeat 10-25 times per set. All of these little workouts should help you banish those muffin tops. This way, by Christmas, you’re looking at your very best. However, keeping the muffin tops away is an entirely different task. So, why not get some Fitness Warehouse workout goodies for Christmas and keep to that New Year’s resolution anyway?
