Relive a Festival in your Back Garden this Summer
If you’re sad that the festival season is nearly coming to an end, or you haven’t been able to make it to one this year, have no fear! You can relive all the fun of a festival in your very own back garden!
If this sounds right up your street, grab all your friends and family (and warn the neighbours) and follow our tips for hosting your back garden festival this summer.
Get your friends or family to perform
Everyone always seems to know someone musical, so why not get them to perform for you?! After all, a festival is all about the music so you’d get extra brownie points for actually having live music at your garden one. If none of your friends or family is of the musical kind, you could always opt for a playlist of all your favourite artists and blast them from outdoor speakers.
If you and your friends are feeling brave, there’s always the option of karaoke as well!
Stock up on all your favourite festival foods and drinks
Festivals aren’t exactly known for their gourmet grub, so your food options may actually be a big step up from the overpriced burgers and chips! However, if you are a true festival fan and want to pay homage to the ‘real thing’ as much as possible, you can cook your own versions of all the festival classics and just give them your own twist.
There are some great BBQ recipes here if you’re after some more inspiration, too.
Have different gazebos for different aspects
Just like the different tents at a festival, why not do the same in your very own garden festival? But obviously on a slightly smaller scale! You could get a range of gazebos in different sizes and have things like your own beer tent, food tent, a gazebo with the speakers in that becomes the music tent, and you could even have kid-friendly ones too!
Make sure it looks great by night too
If you don’t want the party to end when the sun goes down, ensure you have things in place so that it’s still great fun at night. Lighting is of course crucial so that you can all still see what you’re doing. There are some great outdoor lighting options here – http://www.lights4fun.co.uk/c/q/outdoor-lights. Lighting on things like steps and dim path ways are important to ensure there’s no accidents as the drinks flow, too!
Have a camp out at night
Camping is by far one of the best things about going to a festival as it’s such a fun experience, so why not include this element in your garden festival party? Invite your guests to bring a tent and have a big camp out to prolong the event and to make it feel like you’re truly at a festival. It’s also a bonus as it means you’re more likely to have people to help you clean up the mess the day after too!
