Fortune Teller Theme New Year’s Party

Spread the love

The New Year is a time for new beginnings. Many people are eager to start fresh and wonder what the new year has in store. Take advantage and host a fun and interesting fortune telling New Year’s party that your guests are sure to love! Here are some tips:

Invitations: Send out invites for your party in early December. The holiday season is a hectic time for many people, so you want to give them plenty of notice. Try making invitations out of colorful tarot cards by copying the colorful side onto white card stock and writing the details on the other side. Many copy shops and specialty photo stores can most likely do this for you. If you can’t find anything related to fortune telling, simple New Year’s themed invitations will work just as well.

Decorations: Think Gypsy caravan when decorating your home for this type of party. Rich colors like purple or burgundy adorned gold fringe is ideal. Try replacing your plain white light bulbs with fun colored ones for a festive look. Traditional streamers and balloons in your color scheme are also a good choice and can add a party vibe to any home. Candles can impart a gorgeous glow, just be sure to place them in appropriate holders in safe locations. Floating candles are even better than the traditional kind when it comes to both safety and decorative beauty.

Food: Fortune cookies are a must for this type of party. When it comes to more substantial fare, try fun appetizers and finger foods. Cheese puffs, shrimp cocktail, chicken satay, won tons filled with cream cheese, crudités and chips with dip are all great party foods that guests will love nibbling on throughout the night. Serve a variety of both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Sparkling cider, soft drinks, punch, champagne, wine, beer and cocktails are all popular choices. If you do serve alcohol at your party, be safe and don’t allow anyone to drive home if they’ve had too much.

Activities: Fortune telling, of course! If you’re not up for reading palms and tarot cards for your guests yourself, hire someone who can. Many psychics and fortune tellers can be hired for parties and can turn a decent party into a fabulous one. Request that they only impart good news to your guests, however, to keep things light and fun. Along with palm and card reading, astrological forecasts are also a fun idea for a fortune telling party. Other activities besides fortune telling that can make for a fun party are music, dancing and traditional card games. Although planning a party of this type takes a bit of effort and a lot of creativity, your guests will remember your fortune telling festivities for many years to come. You may even end up starting an annual tradition that your friends will look forward to all year long!
