Leprechaun Hat Cookies, St. Patrick’s Day Recipes
These fun cookies are easy to make and kids will love eating them too. These are a great idea for a school party, if you bring the cookies already dipped in almond bark, so that the kids only have to assemble the hats.
What you will need:
1. Vanilla wafer cookies
2. Chocolate chip cookies
3. White almond bark
4. Green food coloring
5. Green squeeze frosting
6. Yellow squeeze frosting
7. Chocolate or vanilla frosting
8. Butter knife
9. Double boiler
10. Spoon
11. Cookie sheet
12. Wax paper
Directions:
1. Put water in the bottom of the bigger part of the double boiler.
2. Put white almond bark in the inside pan and put it inside the larger pan.
3. Put the double boiler on a burner and turn the heat up to medium-high.
4. Stir as the almond bark begins to melt.
5. While the almond bark is melting, put a sheet of wax paper on the cookie sheet.
6. When the almond bark is completely melted add a couple drops of green food coloring and stir until the color is evenly distributed.
7. Remove from the burner and turn off heat.
8. You will need to work quickly to dip the cookies. Dip the desired number of chocolate chip cookies. You will need one for each hat you want to make. Then dip the vanilla wafers. You will need two of these for each hat you want to make.
9. After dipping them, place them on the cookie sheet to cool and harden.
10. When all of the cookies have been dipped and cooled you are ready to assembly your hat.
11. Begin by using the knife to put chocolate or vanilla frosting on one side of a vanilla wafer. Place it in the center of one of the chocolate chip cookies using the frosting like glue.
12. Put frosting on one side of another vanilla wafer and place it on top of the first.
13. Now you can add a band of green for the hat with the green squeeze frosting, and a buckle with the yellow frosting. Repeat this process until all of your cookies have been made into Leprechaun hats.
