Recipes – Vegetarian Thanksgiving Dinner
Our household has celebrated non-turkey Turkey Days for ten years now, can you believe it? And we haven’t done it by just hiding out in our house with our little piles of birdseed and salad, either. We have hosted family members who flew across the country just for the holiday; we have contributed meatless gravy and stuffing to large parties where a huge turkey was also being served; and we have baked vegan pumpkin pies for dairy-allergic neighbors who always felt somewhat bereft of Thanksgiving desserts.
This year marks our tenth anniversary Vegetarian Thanksgiving. The cranberry sauce is simmering on the stove downstairs. There is a pumpkin with our name on it ripening in a field. And, as usual, the cats will just have to stare at us, mystified, while we eat this crazy rabbit food instead of turkey. Maybe we’ll cadge some from a neighbor.
Best wishes to you and your family and friends this Thanksgiving!
