Sundaes & Toppings: ‘Make Your Own Sundae’ Ice Cream Party Idea

Spread the love

Sundaes and Toppings - Make Your Own Sundae Party IdeaLet kids have lots of fun making their own sundaes. Make sure you don’t host the party indoors as you can expect a lot of mess and outdoors will be easy to clean up. Ask your guests to wear clothes they wouldn’t mind getting messy in.

What You Will Need:

  • Different Flavors of Ice-Cream
  • Lots of Toppings – Sprinkles, Chopped Nuts, Chopped Fruits, Syrups, Crushed Candy etc.
  • Whipped Cream
  • Sundae Glasses
  • Dry Ice Cream Decorations like Parasols, Wafers etc.

Lay out all the things except ice-cream and bowls of whipped cream (which will come in when needed) on a large table.

Before the Party Begins:

Gather the kids together and play some ice-cream themed games like ‘pin the cherry on the sundae’ or ‘pass the ice-cream sundae’ (based on pass the parcel) etc. Relay races are also a great way to build up appetite and on a hot summer day, kids will want to dive into the ice-cream after exercise. A great way to reward a game winner is to let him/her be the first one to make their sundae. See more Ice Cream Party Games.

Make Your Own Sundaes:

After the games are over, hand out each kid with an apron with an ice-cream appliqué. The kids get to keep these as party favors. Then the kids can take turns making their own sundaes. Younger kids will need help scooping out the ice-cream. Then the kids are free to add toppings of their choice after which they can decorate their sundaes with colorful parasols, wafers etc.

It is a good idea to keep one person stationed near the table to help the kids and to replenish supplies. Another good idea is to take pictures, of course. Kids make lovely sights covered with ice-cream!
