Released in late November, it has flown off the shelves and Sony has been forced to increase last-minute production numbers, simply to meet demand. It incorporates multiple areas of technology with the ability to go online, play DVDs and CDs as well as actually game play.

The Xbox One was designed as strict competition for the PS4 and was even released a fortnight before in order to make the best seller lists. It is hugely popular and also incorporates a lot of technology, meaning it has multiple devices in one. It is the perfect release for those who are truly enamoured with the Xbox and Microsoft products.

Apple is huge in the tech market and dominates a number of different sectors within the field. It has just released the latest version of the MacBook Air, which boasts 9-12 hours of battery life – a first for any apple product, as all have notoriously bad battery life. Apple enthusiasts will be falling over themselves to get their hands on this product and will love you forever if you gift them with it over Christmas.

The tablet market is another big place with so many different brands releasing their take on the multi-functioning hand held device. Google has just released the Nexus 7 tablet and it has already had a lot of success. By 2015 it is expected that 2 billion people will own a tablet purely for the level of technology and capabilities they boast.

For years there was no phone, other than the iPhone, it was the biggest contender and it was rare to see anyone who didn’t own one. But Samsung has knocked the iPhone from its top spot with the Galaxy. The S4 has dominated the phone market and even the latest releases from Apple weren’t enough to budge it. The functions of the two phones are similar, but the Galaxy seems to have ironed out the problems that Apple just cant rid their mobiles of –a better battery life and increased technology – making it a winner in the mobile phone category.
