Blue and Yellow Flower Arrangement
This design is made in a blue ceramic modern vase, which I use a lot. A flower pot with the holes glued up with a glue gun to make it watertight, just fits snugly into the neck of the vase. Floral foam is used to hold the flowers. The height is formed with Phormium tenax ‘Variegata’. To the right of this is a group of dried grasses, dyed blue to match the container. To the right of this is a group of Cornus stolonifera ‘Flaviramea’. A group of yellow ‘Connecticut King’ Lilies forms the focal point. I have also used some yellow spray Carnations. Foliage used is Mahonia japonica, Hedera helix ‘Buttercup’, and at the front, some variegated leaves of the tree Acer platanoides ‘Drummondii’. I have sliced a lemon and threaded the slices on a long barbecue stick, to give an added design dimension, and another lemon and a half are placed at the base of the arrangement on a blue velvet drape. |
A yellow base brings the colour through to the bottom of the arrangement. I have also used a green bell-pepper, skewered onto three cocktail sticks. Some blue tissue paper has been folded and pleated to form a fan on the left of the arrangement, and the same paper has been twisted to form two rings on the right.
