Spread the love

Many people in committed relationships look back on their single years with great fondness and a sense of nostalgia. 10 Reasons to be Thankful You are Single

Travel wherever you want to

Within a couple, holidays tend to be another area where compromise is necessary. Some people prefer lying on a beach whilst others want to be more active. As a single, you can go wherever you choose and have as many (or as few) adventures as you want.

You get to date again

The freedom to date anyone you like is a one of the main pleasures of being single. If you’re interested in getting back out there, you should look to expand on your hobbies. Go out and do what you’ve always wanted. As well as the pure enjoyment of doing them, it’s also a great way to meet new and exciting people.

If you already operate on a jam packed schedule, then you could look at online dating sites that use a match making algorithm. Using sites such as eHarmony means you will only speak to people who have similar values and goals to you. Knowing that the person you’re chatting to has the same aims and goals as you, can save precious time you would’ve spent speed dating or on awkward blind dates.

No fighting over the remote

Singles are lucky enough to get to choose what they want to watch and listen to all of the time. There is no fighting over the remote, which causes a surprising number of arguments in many relationships. Enjoy the freedom of selecting whatever entertainment you want to enjoy.

Use your money to spoil yourself

Money issues are one of the main causes of conflict within a relationship but your money is all your own. If you want to treat yourself to a new dress or gadget then you don’t have to justify yourself to anyone.

Spend time with whoever you choose

Sometimes a partner has a friend that you don’t get on with. Normally this will have to be discussed and a compromise of some kind reached – but not if you are single. Enjoy spending as much time as you like with whoever you want. If you decide to eventually settle down then you may never have this freedom again.

You can be selfish

Being selfish doesn’t have to be a negative thing. If you know what you like and have time to do what you enjoy, then you will be happier. This in turn means that you will be more prepared for a relationship once you meet the right person.

Time to focus on your career

Often family pressures compete with work which can be detrimental to your career progression. As a single, you can choose to invest more time in your career and chase that big promotion, or even set up your own business.

No need to dress up

Many people don’t feel able to relax and slob about with their partners, particularly if it’s a new relationship. Singles can enjoy lazy days of relaxing on the sofa in a onesie more than their attached friends.

Free to flirt without guilt

Flirting is fun, whether it leads to anything more serious or not. If you are single then you can enjoy flirting without having to worry about hurting anyone’s feelings.

Your house stays how you left it

No clearing up wet towels, someone else’s dirty clothes or mess that you didn’t make. Domestic chores are a common source of arguments within couples and something that singles should be grateful to avoid.
