Potty Training The Easy Way

Spread the love

Potty Training TipsPotty training process requires a complex combination of physical and cognitive tasks. The proper encouragement and patience coming from the parents is needed for a successful potty training of children. Parents should know the signs that are needed to know that your baby is ready for potty training.

Potty training is when parents try to take their children off their diapers for good! It can be a real drag for parents, since it will consist of a lot of time and much effort, including an ever lasting love and patience for your child. Since your child is very used to the comfort and ease of disposable or cloth diapers, verbalizing the word “I need to pee/ poop” is a big deal.

The Child’s Abilities

The potty training process in general requires an elaborate understanding of physical and cognitive abilities of a child. For they have to learn and become comfortable and familiar with their body and its functions, to associate physical sensations with its proper response or action, figure out what they want to do, and plan to get to the bathroom and do the necessary details in order to remove waste and use the potty. The parent has to remain patient and wait until they are done. These tasks all in all really require concentration and discipline on the part of the child.

Using ‘Baby Language’

At the age of 2, children are more acquainted with their body parts. Try using words that are easy and comfortable to use by the child and can be understood by the family members. Usually parents refer to bowel movement or urinating, like pooppoo or uh-uh (Bowel movement) or weewee (urinating). This is the time to teach your child all the other words that will be needed in the potty training process. The child’s capacity and ability for symbolic thought, solving basic problems and memorization is needed in this activity.

Being Able to Remove Clothes and/or Diaper

Your child must learn that when they have the need to go potty they should find their way to the potty all by them self, to remove their clothes and then eliminate in the potty. In some instances parents use ‘pull up’ or ‘pant style’ diapers just to be sure. These are diapers that are like underwear that you can pull down when you want to potty but with diaper-like absorbent materials, it will prevent accidental mess. In addition parents should also see if their child can already follow instructions and are able to understand and comprehend basic thoughts and can memorize ordinary activities in the house.

Your Baby Wants to Learn too!

In training children, parents, most especially moms should avoid inflicting stress to their kids; they have to remember that their baby wants to know this activity as well. Positive encouragement is needed as well as undying emotional support. Parents usually misjudge the desire of a child for approval. Most children have this longing, to please their parents and get praises and approval on what they’re doing.

Hence simple praises like “very good”, “well done” or “that’s a good boy/girl” is a lot for a child. It is a must that these concepts of a child will be used by parents, together with their love and guidance in making a great tool that can assist in the process of potty training.
