Should Students Have Summer Homework

School’s Out for Summer

The one thing all kids want to do in their summer holiday is to chill, relax and have fun. There are those who believe that giving summer homework to kids is taking away an equally valuable part of growing up and life. Young people need to have fun and school, school, school is just not fair. It is understandable and many of us know that having a summer break from school was much needed. Summer is the time that friendships are made, and valuable life lessons are learned. School’s out for summer, especially in the mind of the child means no school stuff.

Getting ahead in life

For today’s generation of school leavers, the workplace and further education opportunities are more challenging than ever before. The good university spaces demand good grades and the even junior level jobs require decent grades from school.  While there is a lot to be said for having a break there an equal argument for giving students some homework during the summer break. It doesn’t necessarily mean some form of summer school but there is a belief among some educators that suggests having some small amount of schoolwork keeps the learning mind active. If a student wants good grades then summer homework can only be a good thing, right?

The balance between fun and schoolwork

The biggest challenge for students, educators, and parents is to find a balance between learning and having fun. Life is not all fun, fun, fun and the sooner a young person realizes this the better. Thankfully technology and online learning platforms such as Assignment Expert can now make summer vacation homework easier, more rewarding and ensure the balance between fun and schoolwork is found.  Technology is a great way to make simmer homework more appealing to a student and can help them with grades while also ensuring the schoolwork is not boring.

Summer Homework is not Nerdy

The one thing students really need to feel is that doing schoolwork is not nerdy. There are of course those A grade students who revel in schoolwork, but these are not the norm. Using technology and being able to learn while using it makes summer homework vastly more appealing. If technology is used students will feel empowered to learn, it won’t look nerdy to their friends, and just a little each day while on the long summer holiday will be an investment they will never regret. Using online learning platforms is the perfect way to make summer holiday homework does not seem like homework. Technology can make learning and homework enjoyable and its use will create a culture and learning habit in a person that will remain for life. Once a young person can see how they can get the best grades and not miss out on life then life can really begin.
