Female Celebrities Take On the Ice Bucket Challenge

Spread the love

With many female celebrities getting involved in ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, it seems there is end to this chilly challenge. You simply fill a bucket with water and ice and pour it over your head and then nominate amongst your friends a few to do the same within a given time frame. Using your favorite social media platform you share the video and that is how you become part of this challenge.

Female Celebrities Take On the Ice Bucket Challenge

What is the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge?

It started in the United States by family members of Peter Frates who was a basketball player diagnosed with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis. The challenge has now raised millions of money geared towards raising awareness for ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis). You either contribute $100 to this project or dump a bucket of ice water over your head. Most people have opted for both donating and getting soaked, posting videos on their favorite social media platform. However, there are those that go directly into giving their contribution without necessarily soaking their heads.

Female Star Power

Canadian actress Shay Mitchell, through her Instagram account, said she loves the awareness and attention the ice bucket challenge has brought to the ALS foundation. She added that it is important that people realize the need for videos in contributing towards ALS. Mitchell wrote on Instagram with a screenshot to confirm her donation. She also added persuaded people to visit ALSA.org to make their donations. On her part, she nominated each one of you to contribute whatever you can.

Saving Water!

Carey Hart has also given out money towards ALS research. She went the contribution route adding that ALS would rather have her money instead of being seen we. She criticized how obsessed people had become with seeing others dump buckets of ice water over their heads. According to her the purpose of the challenge is to raise money for an awful disease. Following suit, Quinto wrote on instagram saying in light of desperate need for water and drought in California she would rather contribute towards ALS project directly and save water.

Selena Gomez also backed ALS ice bucket challenge by actively participating. She is one of these celebs who did both – soaked her head and made a donation towards the noble cause. She drenched herself on video five hours earlier than her boyfriend Justin Bieber.

Other female celebrities who have taken up the challenge include Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey, Taylor Swift, Jaime King, Pamela Anderson, Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea, Anna Wintour and Lady Gaga, who, in her inimitable style, poured the ice cold water without as much as batting an eyelid, as she sat calm and composed in a black bodysuit.

86 year old Ethel Kennedy nominated none other than the Prez himself in her video. Ashley Benson and Lucy Hale, along with other cast members of ‘Pretty Little Liars’ drenched themselves with icy water for the cause.

The ALS association has announced that it has so far received funds amounting to over $13.4 million from over 300,000 people in a short span of time. Thanks to the awareness raising exercise!
