Family Camping Tips
One of the fondest childhood memories I have are camping with my dad. My dad and I would grab our tent, sleeping bags and fishing poles and head down to a local lake for a weekend. Camping can be a wonderful activity for the entire family. It can also become a huge calamity if you are not prepared or don’t know what to expect.
If you are not experienced at camping then it might be best to start with a commercial campground. These campgrounds are often listed in the yellow pages. The costs of these campgrounds is often nominal and they usually have showers, bathrooms, electrical hookups, running water nearby , fire pits and a camp store for any necessities that you may have forgotten. Established commercial campgrounds also often have activities for the entire family including swimming pools, hiking trails, paddle boats and fishing lakes. Although most of these campgrounds are set up for campers they almost at always have tent sites as well.
These campgrounds don’t cost much and have showers, electrical hookups, running water nearby, fire pits, bathrooms, and a camp store if you forget to bring anything. Many established commercial campgrounds also have a variety of activities for the whole family to enjoy which include hiking trails, swimming pools, paddle boats and fishing lakes. After you have some experience camping at an established campground then you may decide you want to rough it in the woods. If you want to find places to camp with just you, your tent and the great outdoors try doing a search on the Internet for great places to camp.
Regardless of where you go camping the most important thing is that you are prepared for anything. Here is a list of things you should consider to make sure that you are prepared for a fun trip camping. 1. One of the most important things you will need is a tent. You can find tents in various sizes depending on a number of people in your family.
2. Sleeping bags and an air mattress if you don’t want to sleep on the ground.

5. Flashlights with plenty of extra batteries.
6. Remember that you’ll be cooking on an opened fire and so you’ll need to bring some old cookware.
7. First aid kit. It is important to bring a first aid kit stocked with Band-Aids, peroxide, gauze, tape, and burn cream.
8. Water for drinking.
9. Trash bags. Regardless of where you decide to go camping one of the most important things is that you leave the area just as he found it. Pick up your trash and take everything with you that you brought. Don’t ruin the experience for the next person.
Camping can be a wonderful activity for the whole family. By taking a little time to prepare for the unexpected you will ensure a great time for your family.
