Practical and Keep-able New year’s Resolutions
In another article ‘New Year’s Resolutions You Can’t Possibly Keep; so don’t even try‘, it was discussed that some resolutions are just impossible to keep; after all, it’s true that a lot of people were “just sayin’ it,” either while they were drunk, or fooling around. However, usually when us girls make a New Year’s resolution, we at least give it a shot before we completely give up. Most resolutions unfortunately die out a couple weeks after conception; the resolutions that are actually fulfilled throughout the year are successful because of planning and patience. Making a resolution is one thing, and making a serious decision to change something is another entirely.
Losing Weight; is as always, one on the major New Year’s resolutions made by millions of women every year. Instead of setting a firm amount of pounds per week, or month, encourage yourself to do things like exercise regularly, and eat better. Not necessarily go on a diet, but change what you eat throughout the year. Instead of energy drinks, try apples; they’re high in nutrients and stimulate the metabolism. Try to wean your caffeine intake, and choose quick side salads instead of a cheeseburgers.
Quit Smoking: One of the easier resolutions to follow through with. Some say it’s easy to quit cold turkey, and not smoke at all, while others swear by chewing gum, or the patch. Some use medications, either over the counter, or prescriptions, while others go as far as to hire a hypnotist. There are, as you can see, several ways to follow up on successfully fulfilling this resolution. The root word, is “resolve”; you must be resolved in your case to quit, and have the strength to carry through. Else wise, this resolution will fall by the wayside like all the others.
Make More Money: Instead of automatically assuming you are going to have to make a career change, or get a second job, take some time out at some point, to analyze your present vocation, and take notes about the things you like, or dislike. Once you’re added the pros and cons about your job, if you’ve decided to stay, then get out a new piece of paper, and begin listing all the different ways you can make more money there. Even if the answer may mean changing companies, but not careers. If you’ve decided to change careers altogether, buy some literature on the subject, and start the path to change; don’t let yourself stagnate if you know you’re capable of more.
Find Romance: Instead of automatically deciding that you’re going to find Mr. Right this year, instead, focus on finding your true romance. This is going to mean taking some time out from trolling the clubs and bars. Instead, introduce yourself to groups of people of the same mind as yourself. Look for familiar faces in places that you usually frequent, other than clubs. For instance, if you spend a lot of time at the library, introduce yourself to someone you meet there, or, if you enjoy spending time at a coffee shop, introduce yourself there. Take chances on meeting guys outside of the usual mediums, and you’re likely to be pleasantly surprised.
