Cornish Cream Tea Party for Mother’s Day

Cream Teas are almost like the traditional English Afternoon Teas, but are characterized by their jam and clotted cream filled scones. Cornwall, the land of Celtic customs, quaint histories of witchcraft and smuggling and long lasting traditions, is famous for its cuisine. As much as it’s Pasties and Saffron Cake are famous, Cornish Cream Teas are known worldwide for scones filled with traditional Cornish Clotted Cream.

Outdoors. Park, Beach or even your own lawn, garden or back yard will be provide the perfect setting.
Party Invitations
Spring flowers and blooms should be the theme for your invitations.
1. Invitation Cards made using pressed flowers.
2. Floral Cutout Invitation Cards for Mom.
3. A little May Basket or Tussie-Mussie made with silk or real flowers with a card tied to it with a decorative ribbon serve as pretty little individual invitations. Alternatively stick the card to a stick and fix the stick into the basket.
Party Decorations
Think Spring! Flowers, Floral Centerpieces and Tussie-Mussies. Here are some ideas to decorate for this Cornish themed tea party:
1. Use spring blooms from the garden to cheer up your table. For a traditional Cornish look, use Bluebells and Hazels. Bluebells and Hazels are used plentifully in Cornish May Day celebrations. You could also use any blue flowers to create a centerpiece or mix pinks and purples to create a feminine table setting in different shades of Pink.

3. Make Victorian Tussie Mussies and tie them to the back of each chair.
4. Place little May Baskets (small baskets filled with spring flowers) on every placemat.

6. Use your favorite China. All white, Blue and White and Chintz pottery never fails to charm!
7. Print out an Old Cornish poem and print it in a Victorian or French font and display on the table.
